'First up is an apropos solo set from former Pegtop’s Matt Patrick. Change is electric, energetic and a fitting forum to further showcase the multi-instrumentalist’s many gifts. Shades of Pegtop surface on some of the more organic rootsy cuts, while elsewhere Patrick flirts with harder and more experimental ground. A vast array of musical talent supports the Pegman ’s own smorgasboard of sounds including Adam Levy (The Honeydogs), Jeremy Ylvisaker, Matthew Custar, Bruce Balgaard and Chris DeWan. Randy Broughten tastefully adds touches of pedal steel for sweet ambiance. Patrick’s biggest influences are Sheryl Crow, The Honeydogs and Buddy and Julie Miller. '~ Jerry Chamberlin ccm magazine 'Matt Patrick's Change is the first solo album of Americana from this Minneapolis-based songwriter. Rock, folk and country influences musically. Plenty of good songs here.
'~ Americana-UK 'Matt Patrick, having appeared on seemingly every album made in Minnesota in the last two years, has finally released a disc of his own, entitled Change. Patrick is probably best known for his playing with Sara Groves and Pegtop, but it should not be assumed that he is limited to the bass. On Change, Patrick sings, plays guitar, Wurlitzer, Hammond B3, tambourine, toy piano, mandolin, shaker, piano, bass, drums, harmonica, Moog synthesizer, Mellotron, bells, Chamberlin, and accordion. There is very little here that will not appeal to the listener. Matt Patrick is a multi-talented artist and shows that in grand form on this album.
