A Series of Clicks and Beeps is a band composed of female voices, male voices, synthesizers, guitars, & drums-- mangled together in a colorful mash of prog pop. People have called their musical style jazz pop & intelli-pop, and Drummer Joe once described it to his female sister using the term, poppunkfunkrockopera—with a juggler.
But WHO do they sound like? you aggressively whisper. Well, they're just very colorful: light and dark, rocking, jazzy, funky & progressive, lots of vocal harmonies-- so it's a bit of a challenge to describe it, but you could say they're sort of like a combination of: Abba, Manhattan Transfer & Mr. Bungle or They Might Be Giants, The Carpenters, old Genesis, Al Jareau, & The Buggles. Yep, that's about right. Their live show is musical performance art--a capella vocals, juggling, audience participation, and confusion.
