Tom Krochock

Tom Krochock is an actively performing musician in the Minnesota and Wisconsin areas. Tom’s skills include all genres from classical to jazz, pop, funk and all others. Tom is also an accomplished composer, arranger, teacher, clinician, recording engineer and producer. His music has awarded him many honors. In 2002, Down Beat magazine named Tom best classical soloist. Krochock also appeared in the 2004 & 2005 Finals of the National Trumpet Competition- jazz division. Tom is the 3 time attendee of the prestigious Henry Mancini commercial music Institute. While there, he worked with many of the leading musicians on the scene today, and performed and recorded in some of the hottest venues in Los Angeles.

Tom’s performing credits are numerous. He has performed with and backed many of the biggest names in music today. Some of his credits include Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Patti Austin, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Arturo Sandoval, Diana Krall, Gunther Schuller, Eddie Daniels, Elmer Bernstein, Roy Hargrove, James Moody, Maria Bachman, Terence Blanchard, The New York Voices, Wycliffe Gordon, Jerry Goldsmith, John Clayton, Byron Stripling, Bob Mintzer, The Peter Erskine trio, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter, Jorja Fleezanis, Vinnie Coaliuta, Ron Westray, Charley Davis, Patrick Williams, David Raksin, Nestor Torres, Alexandre Dossin, Jerry Bergonzi, The Dave Berkman Quartet, and many more.

The variety of the ensembles Krochock has played in is noteworthy. He has been a member of the Down Beat winning and Grammy Nominee Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble. He has also performed with the Cedar Avenue Big Band, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Mancini Big Band, and Five by Design. Tom can also be spotted playing with Twin Cities Funk/ Soul groups such as Mick Sterling and the Stud Brothers, The Brian Kinney Band, High and Mighty, and the Sugar Divaz. Tom is the associate trumpet in the Lacrosse Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed with the Chippewa Valley Symphony, and the Minnesota Orchestra. Tom’s newest small group: The Q-tet can be spotted in some of the hottest clubs in Minnesota and Wisconsin.



Many of the finest venues have been the site of Krochock’s performances. He has performed with orchestras at Paramount Studios in L.A., the Beverly Hills Pavilion, Wadsworth Theater, Royce Hall, and Orchestra Hall in Minnesota. He has played in well renowned Twin Cities restaurants and clubs such as Brilliant Corners, the Minnesota Music Café, Bunkers, and the Artists Quarter. He has played private functions in some of the classiest clubs in Minnesota such as Tournament Players Club, University Club, Minneapolis Club, and International Market Square. Tom has also been a performer at many regional and national conventions such as IAJE, MMEA, WMEA, MENC, and Midwest. Also impressive is the list of recording studios in which Krochock has performed. Studios such as Warner Brothers, Musicians Local 47, Studio M, and Sony Studios.



Mr. Krochock currently resides in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is expected to release a cd with The Q-tet within the next couple of months.

What type of music is appropriate for your next function?

·Solo Trumpet- Suitable for wedding ceremonies and other services. It is common to add organ, piano, or a second trumpet for this purpose
·Small Brass Ensemble- A brass group, most often a quintet. Can perform standard repertoire, holiday music, and wedding music. At parties, this group is most appropriately used as background music.
·Jazz Group- A small jazz combo really livens up the atmosphere of a function. A quartet or quintet is requested most often: 1 or 2 horns and a rhythm section. Size and instrumentation can change to most appropriately suit the occasion. A jazz group can be used as background music and it can also serve as a medium for dancing.
