Live instruments bending into sequences of programmed synths. Escapist imagery in lyrics and stylized visual punctuation. This is the essence of Audrey.
A musical group initiated by Andre Leroux and Max in 2000, Audrey began writing and demoing their oil-and-water collaborations at Max's home studio, which he has named .datalyst. There they began exploring the possibilities and mining specific time periods in pop. Listening to Audrey speaks volumes as to what sparked their imagination: A sound 20 years out of the past, suddenly sounding startlingly accessible yet artful.
A year of writing, recording and searching for other interested artists would pass before meeting Josh Lemoine, who joined on drums. With the lineup solidified, rehearsals commenced. Much of Max and Andre's initial writing efforts were exorcised in a live setting and proved effective if not endearing and unique. A demo of three songs was produced and a website erected. Still thinking forward, this summer Audrey began the process of recording and producing a full-length record at .datalyst, which they will release in the winter of 2003. |
