Federal Weights and Measures is an alternative band in Minneapolis that carries on the relatively new musical tradition of the 'No Depression' sound. The Feds' influences date back at least as far as Gram Parsons and pick up again with Uncle Tupelo and the Jayhawks.

The Feds are currently working on a record deal with Nashville's Groove Tone Records (www.GrooveTone.com), a company that hopes to emerge as the premier source of quality Americana music. Waiting in Your Backyard will be available sometime in the near future.

The forthcoming release features a chilling and heart-wrenching blend of alternative rock and down home country. Standard rock arrangements are adorned with banjo, piano, and pedal steel guitar. Influences range from Naked Raygun, Pixies, Big Black and Shellac to Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Gram Parsons and encompass everything in between.

Pete Boss leads the way as the principle songwriter and lead singer. His brother Andy joins in with his unique and melodious guitar style, and old time 'punk rock banjo.' Tony Thomas adds his high-lonesome vocal harmonies while contributing on bass, guitar and banjo.
