Changing From the Inside is a live worship/soaking CD. The music is simple and written from a heart that wants nothing more than to live every moment in the presence of God. Kara wrote these songs, expressing truths that have been spoken to her heart, over the past 4 years or so. In the midst of her own experience of brokenness, Kara has found God to be full of redeeming love, forgiveness, and hope. The hope that he has given her is what she wants to instill in others as they listen. On many of the songs, Kara pours her heart out to God in a very intimate and honest way that encourages others who are listening to do the same.
For about 15 years, Kara Tupy has been pursuing a life of intimate worship and growing in her love of music and the arts. Playing the piano and guitar, songwriting, and pouring out her heart of love to Jesus are her favorite things to do. Whether at her piano alone in her home or experiencing the presence of God with other worshippers in corporate intimacy, Kara’s desire has been to know God more and to bring others into passionate relationship with Him.
Kara began playing worship music at the age of 15 in the church that her dad pastored. Her love of worship began to deepen over the next few years. She remembers sneaking into the dining hall, during college, in the middle of the night, to play the grand piano and just “be” with the Lord. That’s where she started writing songs and finding herself more and more drawn to the place of intimacy at the feet of Jesus. Her voice is soulful and her songs speak to the topics of freedom, intimacy, brokenness, and hope. Whether in the midst of intimate worship or times of prophetic proclamation, you get the sense that she forgets anyone else is in the room except for Jesus.
After graduating from college, Kara joined the Spiritual Formation staff of Simpson College in Redding, CA where she mentored worship leaders for four years. From there, Kara branched out to lead worship and play music in a variety of settings including conferences, churches, cafés, street corners and mountain tops around the world. She has traveled to China, Thailand, Western Europe, and throughout the US.
Through the years, Kara has found herself more and more drawn to evangelistic settings. The songs that come out of her heart speak to broken people, whether churched or un-churched, and Kara feels that God is calling her to take her songs to those outside the walls of the church.
Kara currently lives in Saint Paul, MN with her husband, Paul. Paul and Kara attend Bethel Christian Fellowship and are involved in helping to plant a new branch of BCF in Northeast Minneapolis. Her husband is completing his MDiv at Bethel Seminary at which time, Paul and Kara plan to pursue church planting in an urban setting.
