I.L.I.C.I.T. (an acronym for I Live In Crucially Intense Times) was born in New Orleans in the summer of 1977. He lived with his grandmother in the St. Thomas projects where in 1981 he was inspired by hip-hop through block party events organized by his neighbor, DJ Jubilee. During his childhood, the culture of hip-hop in New Orleans was blossoming, having an intense impact on I.L.I.C.I.T.’s destiny. At 10 years old, he moved to Minnesota with his mother and older brother, and within two years he was writing battle rhymes. In July of 1990 he blessed the stage for the first time in East St. Paul, MN where he took the crowd on a ride through his crucially intense world. As a teen he began developing his lyrical abilities by rapping for friends and family. A visit to New York in October of 2001, where he met The RZA, motivated him to launch his rap career. By July of 2002 he was rapping at the Loring Pasta Bar in monthly MC battles, where he gained respect on the Twin Cities hip-hop scene. Today he has over 500 events under his belt including 60 on stage battles (double-digit second place wins and three times clearing the stage with first place). With a hardcore urban political rap style, an east coast lyrical presence and Midwest influence, I.L.I.C.I.T. blends a unique style with raw and controversial insight, leaving his audience full from a crucially intense musical feast.
